Expert bicycle servicing, repairs, component replacement and upgrades at CycleLane Limited, Pocklington

New dawn, new door - it's a masterstroke

The new workshop area at CycleLane, Pocklington
As a small one-man business for ten years, Nick - the owner of Cyclelane Ltd - has been wrestling with the stresses of managing and financing the company's activities selling new bicycles while at the same time dealing with the ever increasing workload of servicing, repairing and upgrading activities.

As Nick's reputation as a highly skilled and fastidious bicycle mechanic has spread, so has the workload. His service customers bring in cycles which were bought from Nick and from other sources and they are drawn not only from Pocklington and the local areas, but even from further large towns in the East Yorkshire area.

Local retail shops face difficult pricing competition from online retailers, which means new bike sales offer very low margins for a small business like Cyclelane.

So Nick has decided to concentrate his time and resources on an area where he has something to offer that can't be matched by any online-only business: his servicing workshop.

He has refitted his premises at 6 Clarkes Lane, Pocklington to split it into two, with Cyclelane's workshop occupying one half and - here's the
Masterstroke - his wife Nikki's barber shop moving into the other half from her previous premises just across the lane at number 7, where she has run her business for the last twenty-two years.

You could say that Nick and Nikki have moved in together - and saved the cost of renting two separate premises.

So now you will find both
Cyclelane and Niks Barbers at number six which occupies a corner site in Clarkes Lane. Cyclelane has a new entrance door around the corner from his old front door (which is now the place to get your haircut).
